Begin with a concise description of the proposed work. This should explain:
The subject and scope of the book
The intended audience
Why the topic matters now
What readers will gain from engaging with the work
This section should read as informed, substance-led back-cover copy and should not exceed half a page.
Titles should be clear, descriptive, and searchable. While originality is welcome, it should not obscure meaning. A strong title:
Accurately reflects the content of the book
Uses terminology likely to be searched by readers
Avoids unnecessary superlatives or ambiguity
Subtitles may be used to add precision where required.
Please provide a short list of keywords or key phrases relevant to the proposed work. These should reflect how readers, researchers, or practitioners are likely to search for material on the topic. A focused list of approximately 6 to 12 keywords or phrases is sufficient. Emphasis should be placed on relevance rather than volume.
Provide a short biography outlining your suitability to write or edit this work. This should highlight:
Relevant academic qualifications or professional experience
Research interests or practice expertise
Prior publications or thought leadership, where applicable
This section should demonstrate authority without being exhaustive.
Please identify two or three existing books or publications related to your proposed work. The aim is not to position your book as superior, but to demonstrate awareness of the current landscape and to clarify how your work is distinct or complementary.
Provide a provisional table of contents. This should go beyond chapter titles and include:
Brief summaries of each chapter
Key themes or arguments to be developed
An indication of progression and coherence across the work
For edited volumes, this should reflect the overall intellectual architecture of the collection.
Please indicate:
An estimated word count
A realistic delivery schedule for the full manuscript
We value achievable timelines over aspirational ones and are open to discussing delivery plans where appropriate.
Outline the primary and secondary audiences for the work. This may include:
Academic readership
Professional or practitioner communities
Teaching or course adoption potential
Policy or sector-specific relevance
Where relevant, you may also note professional networks, associations, or communities through which the work may gain visibility.
If you plan to develop supplementary materials, such as teaching resources, practitioner tools, or online content, please outline these briefly. Supplementary materials are not required but may enhance the reach and usability of the publication.
All scholarly outputs are subject to peer or expert review appropriate to their orientation. This may include:
Double-blind peer review for research-led works
Expert or editorial review for applied or professional texts
Structured review processes for edited volumes and chapters
Review criteria focus on originality, rigour, coherence, and contribution.
